Chris Wright and I built an 8,000 domino project at the Rochester Museum & Science Center for the grand finale of the weeklong event, “Messtival.” We had only 9 hours to build the RMSC logo, “Messtival” text, and as many dominoes as we could. We actually ended up exceeding our original goal of 5,000 dominoes, finishing ahead of schedule. The toppling worked without any full stops and we generated a very large crowd all around the setup. After the falldown, I led a domino workshop for 3 hours so that the kids could learn how to build some domino tricks after they had seen what can be done. We found out during the workshop that some families traveled from as far as Buffalo just to see the domino setup.
